Celebrate America!

In honor of the 250th anniversary of our country, our new music education program is titled Celebrate America! American music is a rich and diverse part of our nation's cultural history. Through this guide, you have learned how different musical styles—such as ragtime, jazz, blues, and others—developed from a mix of cultural traditions, historical events, and creative expression. Each genre reflects the experiences and voices of the people who created it, showing how music can be both personal and powerful.

By studying American music, students gain a deeper understanding of the United States' history, diversity, and values. Music is not only a form of entertainment, but also an important way to learn about the past, understand different communities, and express ourselves. As you continue to explore music, remember that every song has a story—and every listener, including you, plays a part in keeping that story alive.
