LIFE IN EXPOSITION OF WATER

This year's educational program focuses on the most important element of life, water. With musical selections from Johann Strauss Jr’s Blue Danube Waltz, to Florence Price’s Mississippi River Suite, to a Chinese folk melody, all the way up to a world premiere work written for the Pennsylvania Philharmonic’s education program, this program celebrates the long musical association between water and sound.

The program centers on Life in Exposition of Water, newly penned by composer Dan Gallery and orchestrated by the Pennsylvania Philharmonic’s own Brent Edmondson, with six movements exploring the rain cycle, glaciers, droughts, and awe-inspiring vistas with visuals by Dan Campione. Old World artistry, the role of rivers in developing cultures around the world, mankind’s struggle to find harmony with nature, and many other topics are explored throughout.
